Typos in WhatsApp messages can sometimes be quite annoying. But that’s over now, because in future you can edit your WhatsApp messages. We show you how the correction mode works.
Every WhatsApp user has probably had this problem at some point: you want to send a quick message and the autocorrect function throws a spanner in the works. This can lead to funny messages, but it can also quickly become embarrassing.
So that you don’t have to delete and retype the entire message in future, the Meta subsidiary has now introduced an innovation. In future, you will be able to edit your WhatsApp messages even after they have been sent.
Edit WhatsApp messages: This is how it works
With this innovation, WhatsApp should finally put an end to typos. At least as long as you notice them quickly enough. In future, you will be able to edit your WhatsApp messages for 15 minutes after sending them.
To do this, tap on the corresponding message and hold it down briefly. The menu that you already know from the reply or forward function will now open.
Here you will also find the item “Edit”. If you click on this button, you can edit your message as you wish in the time window provided.
How can I recognise an edited message?
Similar to Twitter, you cannot edit your messages secretly. This is because WhatsApp will also display modified messages with the addition “edited”.
This is to inform recipients of a message about the correction. However, there will be no information about the change process.
Edit WhatsApp messages: When will the function be available?
If you want to edit your WhatsApp messages in the future, you should keep an eye on the updates for your app in the next few days.
According to the messenger service, it is already in the process of rolling out the new feature for users worldwide. It should be available to everyone in the coming weeks.
