Elon Musk has announced that he has found a new boss for Twitter. So far, however, he has not given a name. The new CEO is expected to take up her post in about six weeks. According to reports, it is Linda Yaccarino, head of advertising at the media company NBCUniversal.
Elon Musk has announced his resignation as Twitter CEO. The billionaire announced in a tweet that he has found a successor for himself. Musk did not name a successor. However, he did say that the post of Twitter CEO will be taken up by a woman in around six weeks’ time.
New Twitter CEO: Who is Linda Yaccarino?
As the Wall Street Journal reports with reference to insiders, the new Twitter boss is supposed to be Linda Yaccarino. Yaccarino is currently still responsible for the global advertising business of the US media company NBC-Universal. But that could soon be over.
After his 44 billion US dollar takeover of Twitter, Elon Musk had initially held the post of CEO himself. However, after a large wave of layoffs, including the previous Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal, Musk repeatedly announced his intention to fill the position.
Elon Musk wants to become Twitter CTO
After Twitter’s workforce shrank from 8,000 employees to 1,500, Musk even put it to the vote via a poll whether he should step down as CEO. The result: 57.5 percent of the participants were in favour of the move.
Elon Musk now seems to have found a suitable successor in Linda Yaccarino. However, the Twitter owner also announced in his tweet that he would support the future Twitter boss as Executive Chairman. This post is often held by a former CEO in order to train his successor and act as an advisor.
Elon Musk also announced that he would act as CTO of Twitter in the future. This would include overseeing products and software.
