WhatsApp users can now use their account on multiple devices. The company announced this in an official blog post. According to this, up to four additional smartphones can be linked with each other in the future.
Last year, WhatsApp already introduced the possibility for users to connect their account with a web browser on tablets and desktop devices. The messenger service now wants to improve this function.
How to use WhatsApp on multiple devices
Because similar to the linking with a web browser, the linking of WhatsApp on several devices was also done at the request of many users. Each connected smartphone would connect to the messenger independently.
According to the company, personal messages, media and calls are also encrypted end-to-end as before. If a device is inactive for a longer period of time, all linked devices will be automatically logged out.

WhatsApp, meanwhile, promises users who link several smartphones as companion devices even easier messaging. In future, it will be possible to switch between the phones without having to log off. Chats can then be continued seamlessly on another device.
The new function of using WhatsApp on several devices should be particularly interesting for small businesses. From now on, several employees will be able to access the same WhatsApp business account via their smartphone. According to the company, the update will be introduced for all users worldwide and will be available in the coming weeks.
