Twitter no longer exists – at least on paper. Instead, the short message service bought up by Elon Musk now belongs to his X Holdings group. The background.
The company Twitter no longer exists on paper. As various media report, the social media service bought up by Elon Musk has been incorporated into the X Holdings group.
Twitter now belongs to X Holdings
Last week, Twitter Inc. announced in a court filing that the company no longer exists as usual. As the US magazine Slate reports, Elon Musk filed for the merger back in March 2023.
But there had already been speculation that Musk was planning to set up a superordinate group for all his companies. A corresponding website has also existed for some time. Musk announced this in a tweet in 2017.
Elon Musk causes confusion
At first glance, the merger of Twitter with X Holdings seems surprising. But looking at past events, it is just another milestone in the multi-billionaire’s confusing game.
It has been clear since the first day of the takeover that changes were in store at Twitter. But just as Musk exchanged the company logo “Larry” for the Dodgecoin dog and then took it back again, it cannot be assumed that the Tesla CEO will rename the social media service for the time being.
X Holdings: Musk’s only comment is an X
For now, the curious should not wait for an explanation from Twitter. As is now common knowledge, the company only responds to press enquiries with a poop emoji. Elon Musk’s only comment so far is an “X” that he posted on Twitter.
Elon Musk is currently the CEO of Tesla, SpaceX and Twitter. He also owns majority stakes in Neuralink and The Boring Company.
